Three Rivers Community Players is casting

"THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL"

Casting a large cast/ensemble (20 plus members) for the Three Rivers Community Players production of

“The SpongeBob Musical."

We welcome and encourage performers of ALL skill levels, ethnicities, backgrounds and identities to audition.

Casting ages as follows:

Principal & Featured Roles: High school/college age to mature (15 and up, with a large number of the roles cast 18+)

General Ensemble: Middle school age to mature (12 and up)

Youth Ensemble: A pair consisting of a youth (ages 8-11) and an adult (18+) responsible for the minor. The pair will appear on stage together in several production numbers.

  • Auditions/Callbacks:

    • Where: Three Rivers Community Players Theater, 15526 Millard Road, Three Rivers, MI 49093

    • Days/Times:

NOTE: Signing up for a specific day is recommended, but not required.

-> Wednesday, March 11 at 6:00 pm

-> Callbacks (if needed): By invitation, at the discretion of the Director

NOTE: Auditionees who are called back will be notified as soon as possible. If you are not called back, that does not necessarily mean you are not cast.

  • Casting Decisions:

    • Those cast will be notified by Saturday, March 14, 2026 (via phone call or email) regarding casting.

    • Roles must be accepted by noon, Saturday, March 14, 2026.

    • Final casting may be dependent on a background check.

  • Read through

    • Day: Tuesday, March 17

    • Time: 6:00 pm

    • Where: Three Rivers Community Players Theater, 15526 Millard Road, Three Rivers, MI 49093

  • Rehearsals

    • Begin: The week of March 16

    • Location and specific days and times TBD based on casting

    • General rehearsal calls will most often be Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning at 6:00 pm to 8:45 pm (consisting of three 45-minute rehearsal blocks). Days/times may increase closer to performance dates

    • Production calendar and call sheets will be distributed the week of March 16

    • The Director and Production Team reserve the right to add brush up and review rehearsals

  • Production Build Days

    • At the discretion of the Director and the Production Team, cast will be required to participate in Production Build Days

    • Expectations and options will be discussed at the Read through and actor one on ones

  • Mandatory Cast/Crew Meeting

    • Tuesday, April 21

    • Time and location TBD

  • Tech Day

    • MANDATORY for all CAST and Crew

    • Saturday, April 25

    • Specific times TBD

    • Extra Tech (if needed): Sunday, April 26

  • Performances

    • Eight performances (CAST call times TBD)

    • Opening night: Friday, May 8; 7:30 pm

    • Saturday, May 9; 2:00 pm matinee and 7:30 pm

    • Sunday, May 10; 2 pm

    • Thursday, May 14; 7:30 pm

    • Friday, May 15; 7:30 pm

    • Saturday May 16; 7:30 pm

    • Sunday, May 17; 2:00 pm

  • Set Strike

    • Sunday, May 17, 2026 (time TBD)

AUDITION INFORMATION:

  • It is expected that if you are cast that you are fully available April 25 – May 17.

  • Actors under 18: Must have a parent present at the audition venue. Parents will be asked into the audition space to cover key production related information and then be asked to leave so the actor can complete the audition.

  • Forms/Paperwork to bring

    • Completed Conflict Calendar

    • Printed Headshot (a recent selfie is adequate)

    • Printed forms (if not obtained online, forms will be available at auditions for completion)

  • If offered a role, official casting will depend on an approved background check. 

 

AUDITION PROCESS:

 

  • 5:30 PM – Doors open for Arrival and Check-in

    • Auditionees arrive, complete all necessary paperwork (as needed). After turning in paperwork to the Welcome Table, all auditionees are invited to take a seat in the auditorium.

    • During this time, auditionees are encouraged to review sides and character overviews.

  • 6:00 PM – Auditions Begin

    • Auditionees will be called into the audition space as needed. Auditionees can expect to be asked:

      • Some introductory questions.

      • To perform specific songs/side or dialect requirements, as needed.

      • To perform a 30 second (16 bar) acapella selection of a song that demonstrates range or character.

      • Some additional questions.

      • If they have any questions.

    • Brief time will also be spent assessing vocal range and movement skill.

    • Auditionees will either be asked to stay to read with others or dismissed for the evening. Being dismissed is not an indication of being cast or not cast.

  • 9:00 PM – Audition Time Frame End

    • All auditionees checked in prior to the end time will be able to audition.

  • Post Audition

    • If needed, callbacks will happen at the discretion of the Director.

    • Roles should be handed out within a week of your audition.
